2010 Australia Stakes field & barrier draw

The Group 2 Australia Stakes (formerly the Carlyon Stakes) will be run this Friday night, 22nd January at the Moonee Valley race course in Melbourne, which is home to the time honoured WS Cox Plate.

Raced at level weights, the Australia Stakes has prize money of $200,000 and is a 1200 metre race for sprinters at weight-for-age. The winner of the 2009 Australia Stakes was Lucky Secret, followed by Light Fantastic with Von Costa De Hero coming in third.

Entry cost per Adult ($20), with Concession ($12) and children under 17 Free with gates opening at 5.15pm with the first race at 6.45pm. The night will be centred on an Australia Day theme with entertainment by Mark Seymour playing live and activities for the whole family.

The Peter Moody trained filly Black Caviar will go into Friday night's Australia Stakes a very warm favourite after only 6 runners accepted for the race. Here De Angels, to be ridden by Michael Rodd, has been declared the closest danger to the hot pot according to bookies and Royal Ida the next hope after the scratching of Heart Of Dreams.
